Price Matching

Posted on 2008-Jul-26 at 11:07
tip-of-the-day

Walmart will match any competitors price on the exact same item [brand and size] ...

but to take advantage of the price match, you have to take the competitors flier with you to Walmart for them to match the price.

Sometimes by doing this, I find is much easier because I can get everything at one store this way!

Magic Jack

telephones

Saving money on your home phone bill ... is it possible? Absolutely!

Have you ever heard of a service call Magic Jack?

For roughly $40.00, you can get a VoIP product called Magic Jack.

What this is, is a UBS device that you plug into your computer and have a phone jack on the other end to plug your phone into.

With Magic Jack, you get free long-distance, free directory assistance, free call waiting, voice mail and caller ID.

When my friend got his Magic Jack, he paid around $40.00 and this not only included the device but also one year’s worth of phone service!

Now, notice - I did not say one month of service, but one year and that it something that you just can’t beat.

Before his trial offer was up, he was offered a plan for 5 years of service for $89.00.

Yes, you read that right ... you’ll get no monthly phone bills at all, now is that cool or what?

My friend Jim called me on his Magic Jack and though at first I had a little hard time in hearing him, it quickly cleared up ...

We talked for over 2 hours and I’m in Pennsylvania, he’s in Arizona and he won’t get any long distance charges for any calls he makes!

As for myself, I’m seriously considering getting this ... even if one doesn’t make many long distance calls, even for the local service and features, it’d be worth signing up.

If this is something you’re interested in, right now they are offering a free 30 day trial offer which you can check out at: Magic Jack.

Knitting for Charity

Do you know how to knit and if so, would you like to make a difference in the lives of poor children all over the world?

If so, please check out the Guideposts - Knit for Kids website.

On here, they have directions for sweaters [which is what they collect and distribute.]

Alternatively, if you don’t knit but can crochet - there is a pattern for crocheting sweaters as well.

If you don’t knit or crochet, you can also donate money to help with shipping costs for the sweaters or can donate yarn.

You’ll find all this information and mailing addresses and so forth on the Knit for Kids site.

Still blogging, just a minor delay

Posted on 2008-Jul-26 at 05:54

I'm still here for my 24 hour blog-a-thon but just had to stop for a bit and shut my computer down.

Wow, did it ever storm here for the past hour or so!

High winds, downpours, thunder, lightening and major hail.

When it started the severe lightening, I decided to turn the computer off till it was done.

I love blogging for charity but ...

it would've been senseless to end up with lightening knocking my computer out and having to pay more for a new one than I raised for the charity I'm blogging for.

New bible in DVD format

DBG-Bible2

Update:  I got this DVD and would not recommend it because the narrative voice is so annoying that I couldn't stand to watch it.  Ugh!

I am so excited because the other day, I bought a new Bible on CBD.com and I can’t wait to get it!

It’s a complete Bible on DVD that is narrated and also will have the Bible text up on the screen as well.

Since I’ve got ADD/ADHD, I’m thinking that this will really be easier for me to get into the Word.

With a regular Bible, many times it’s hard for me to focus when there are so many words crammed together, if that makes sense at all?

I’m sure that others with attention deficit disorder know exactly what I’m talking about.

I’d seen commercials for Bible’s in DVD format before but those were in the King James Version which really isn’t my preference.

This one though is in the New International Version which is more my prefererence.

Make a Chld Smile

Make a Child Smile

Animation1

Make a Child Smile is a non-profit organization which helps connect those who can and will send cards or notes,

to children who are hospitalized with cancer or other serious [or life-threatening] conditions.

This is such a worthy organization - there are so many children who would love to get a card, a letter or a small gift.

You could make a card, buy a card or even make a small gift ...

I’m sure whatever you would do, would be so appreciated by the child and the parents.

Many of these children have terminal diseases [though some do not],

but whichever the case - all of them have very serious conditions.

Won’t you take a few minutes to send a card [I know the price of stamps have gone up but still, they are not that expensive yet!]

For more info. you can go to their website at:

This is a sample of the cards I make to send to residents at our local nursing home.

Sometimes I find a template online that someone’s done and then personalize them ...

Either way, for the elderly who are stuck in the homes, they really do brighten their day!

A surprise at the gas pump

Posted on 2008-Jul-26 at 01:23
gaspump2

We all know that the price of gas is absolutely outrageous and seems to just keep skyrocketing.

That’s why I never thought I would see them go back down again ...

I was so surprised this morning when I looked out my window and saw that gas has dropped 10 cents a gallon since the last time I paid attention to it.

My personal opinion that is it won’t stay down for long but it sure was nice to see that at least it did drop for a little while anyways.

What do you think ... do you think that gas will ever go back down to what it used to be?

I honestly don’t and it wouldn’t surprise me that eventually and maybe in the not so distant future, that it easily could go to $7.00 a gallon or above.

It’s sure a scary thought, isn’t it?

This is something that affects us all in one way or another, whether it be having to pay for it for our vehicles [which I don’t own one right now];

Or if not paying at the pumps, we surely are paying for it with the rising costs at the grocery and other stores due to trucking costs and diesel raising so much.

I just wonder what my mom would have thought to see these prices.

She was my grandmother who raised me so she saw the prices when gas was 5 gallons for $1.00.

Oh, for the good old days ..... well, for the good old days with today’s modern conveniences. a-lol
